The Journal of Architecture and Planning represents an extension of King Saud University’s mission to provide distinguished education and to produce innovative research that serves society and contributes to building a knowledge-based economy.

Each month, the journal receives dozens of research papers, scholarly articles, and review studies from around the world. Submissions that comply with the publication guidelines are forwarded to the editorial board and subsequently assigned to two or three expert reviewers. The journal follows a rigorous peer-review policy aligned with the ethical standards of scientific research at King Saud University as well as international publishing regulations and procedures. It adopts the highest professional standards in evaluation through a double-blind peer-review process that ensures the anonymity of both authors and reviewers.

Since its establishment in 1989, the Journal of Architecture and Planning has been committed to the regular publication of original research characterized by novelty, sound scientific methodology, and analytical depth. The journal covers the fields of architecture, urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture, and real estate development, in addition to interdisciplinary studies related to the built environment. It seeks to attract high-quality scholarly contributions from researchers, academics, and practitioners, thereby enriching knowledge, advancing professional practice, and supporting urban planning and decision-making.

To affirm the quality of its scholarly and peer-review standards, the journal has been indexed in several specialized Arabic databases and in the Web of Science (WoS), reflecting its scientific credibility and its growing research standing at both regional and international levels. The journal publishes in both Arabic and English, supporting knowledge exchange and the dissemination of research expertise, and reinforcing the presence of Arab urban research in the international academic arena.
